Symposium Global is a student-run organization dedicated to promoting cross-cultural dialogues around the world. Symposium aims at exposing students to global perspectives by providing free access to liberal arts style seminars in countries that do not traditionally emphasize critical discussion in the classroom.

Symposium provides free ten-day long summer programs to high school and college students. Symposium Fellows, trained under Columbia faculty, and Discussion Leaders guide students to read and discuss a diverse collection of literature—everything from Homer to Confucius and Mahabharata. During the program, students attend seminars, field trips, and workshops.

Over the last 5 years, Symposium has provided free opportunities to over 800 high schools and college students in 16 cities in the US, China, Japan, Korea, Thailand, India, Pakistan, Taiwan and Singapore to experience humanities seminars. Our Discussion Leaders have come from more than 20 different universities.
