This year we will continue to recruit Discussion Leader (DLs) for our summer programs in Bangkok, Beijing, Mumbai, Shanghai, Taichung, and several towns in rural China (exact locations may vary). Candidates for DLs are typically students who have preexisting commitments (internship or family) in the program locations and would like to help lead discussions as a summer extracurricular activity; they therefore receive no stipend or reimbursement.
In general, DLs could teach whatever texts that suit their personal interests. However, they must each submit a complete syllabus for the 10-day program as part of their application. Once committed, all DLs will participate in an online training process, as well as a brief on-site training session. Potential DLs are also welcome to contact Symposium if they wish to participate in a separate training process in the spring (i.e. the one for Symposium Fellows), outlined in next section.
The application for DLs will be released around late February, and college students from both Western institutions and local schools are welcome to apply. We will release our final decisions in late April.
